Diamante, Glitter & Lace was born out of the need of difference and innovation. In Australian there really isn't many online sources for creating leotards. If anything the closest resource you would be able to find are swimsuits. But they are lacking the tips and tricks of decorating leotards.
Thus by creating this blog I am able showcase my ideas. With the added benefit of getting my opinions about different designs elements that make my creating easier.
The old saying practice makes perfect is true! By consistently having to make leotards my skills and ideas are always evolving for the better. This also pushes my creative mind to come up with new and individual ideas.
There are many reasons why I created this website and blog, but if I had to put it into two words it would be to inspire and inform.
Inspire
The world is everyone’s oyster and we should all have a go at doing something once! I hope what I create for the blog, my clients and just my sparkly ideas in general, sparks your creative side!
Inform
I try to be as open as I can about how I go about making my leotards and little tricks I've learnt along my sewing journey. I don't know everything and I am still learning. But I hope that my ideas and skills can be transferred to someone else for their sewing journey.
Designer BackGround
The main creator behind this page is a self taught sewer who has turned her hobby into a passion.
Meggan started sewing at a young age but it wasn't till 2010 that she started her journey with Lycra.
Meggan's recollection...
"Ever since I can remember I have always been a crafty person, with vivid memories at the age of five sewing my little project to my leggings. It wasn’t till the age of 11-12 that I first had a go at using the sewing machine and then things just grew from there."
Over the past six years I have learnt so much about making and designing leotards, just from developing my own skill set.
I’m a lot more confident with my skills and therefore I’m not as afraid to show my designs to the greater public.
Why I make leotards is an interesting question. For me I like to give gifts to people and this is one of the ultimate gifts, to make someone feel amazing in a personalized costume. I also love, love , LOVE!!! Sparkles. Just like a bowerbird… you will often see me with covered in glitter from one of my many projects .
I am a perfectionist when it comes to my leotards, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As all I want to do is create the most spectacular costumes! "
